Accommodation services future planning
Durham County Council has responsibility for co-ordinating housing and support options for residents who have a Learning Disability and or are Autistic. A request was made from Durham County Council commissioners to help develop their understanding regarding the priorities these individuals have about settings and types of housing provision in the future.
This engagement work was designed and developed in partnership with a group of community and private partners. The groups involved in this project were:
- Bridge Creative
- Durham County Carers Support
- Home Group
- Inclusion North
- Innovations NE
- Investing in Children
- North East Autistic Society
- Options Group (Pioneering Care Partnership)
- Tin Arts
Working as a collaborative, these partners devised appropriate materials to explore the issues around home and housing with the target audiences.
These partners were able to then deliver a series of one to one and group conversations using the bespoke materials that they had produced. Their ability to reach out to people across the County enabled over 400 conversations to take place directly with people whose voices were essential to these future plans.
